Here are the latest photos of the library on the new Bay Campus. As you can see, it’s really starting to take shape now. And check out those views! You’ll find lots more photos of the Bay Campus, featuring the Great Hall, Tower Information Centre and other buildings as well as the library, on Flickr. Take a look!
Good news! We have recently bought two ebook collections for our School of Management students. These titles come to us via Elgar Online, which is a database of research books, handbooks, companions, encyclopaedia, dictionaries and other academic material. Swansea University students can now access the 2014 Economics & Finance collection of ebooks (99 titles) and the 2014 Business & Management collection (57 titles) from Elgar Online.
The available ebooks have all been added to our iFind Discover library catalogue, so you’ll see them cropping up in your results as you search for library resources as normal. If you’d like to view a list of all these new titles, just search for Elgar Online on iFind Discover and follow the links to the database homepage. From there, you’ll be able to choose Browse from the options along the top. Once the titles are listed, remember to choose the option for All accessible content under Refine by access to ensure you’re viewing the ebooks from the collections we’ve subscribed to.
We think these extra resources are going to be really useful, so do please have a look at them when you get a chance. If you have any questions or need any help, please contact the School of Management subject support team at firstname.lastname@example.org.
With building work in full swing and the new Bay Campus Library taking shape we thought that we’d give you a taste of what you can expect. Have a look at our handy guide for some key facts and figures on the new Library.
As you’ve probably heard by now, the School of Management will be moving across to Swansea University’s fabulous new Bay Campus this summer, ready for the new academic year. Your library subject team will be coming too, so rest assured you’ll have the same help and support as you’re used to at Singleton Park Campus. We recently had an opportunity to visit the new site and are happy to report that although there’s still some work to do, the Bay Library is looking good and we can’t wait to move in once it’s all kitted out and furnished. Take a look at the video above to see some pictures from our trip. You’ll see we didn’t have the best day for it (Swansea weather!), but it was lovely to see how things are progressing.
If you’d like to see some more pictures of our visit or if you have any questions about the move, please come along to our drop in session in the library (the one here at Singleton Park!) this Thursday (12th March) from 10am till 12pm. We’ll be in the Central Hall and will have floor plans of the new library as well as our photos of the site. You can also get lots of information from the university’s Bay Campus webpages.
We’d like to introduce you to another new member of staff here at the library. Giles Lloyd-Brown has joined the team of Subject Librarians for the School of Management and the College of Engineering. He’ll be dividing his time between the Library and Information Centre at the Singleton Campus and the new Bay Campus Library.
Giles has returned to Swansea University, having graduated in 2005. Since then he has obtained a Masters in Information and Library studies from Aberystwyth University and worked in a range of library services including Local Authority, Academic and Government.
Giles is a Chartered member of the Chartered Institute of Library and Information Professionals (CILIP) and is also a Chartership mentor for other librarians and information professionals.
We’d like to introduce you to some new members of staff here at the library! Philippa Price has recently joined the team of Subject Librarians for the School of Management and the College of Engineering. The team is currently based in the Library and Information Centre at Singleton Campus, but will be moving to the library at the new Bay Campus in September.
Whilst she is new to Swansea University, Philippa has nearly ten years’ experience as a university librarian. She previously worked as an Assistant Librarian at University of Wales Trinity Saint David, Swansea (formally Swansea Metropolitan University) where she provided subject support for the staff and students on the Education programmes. Her role there involved contact with students from undergraduate to Masters level and allowed her to develop strong links with academic staff. Philippa is looking forward to similar opportunities here at Swansea University.
If you’d like to find out a bit more about Philippa, take a look at her blog post for 23 Llyfrgellydd last year: http://23llyfrgellydd.blogspot.co.uk/2014/12/11-philippa-price-university-of-wales.html.
Watch this space to meet more new members of the team soon…
