Just a reminder that vacation borrowing starts on Tuesday 15th June 2010.
Items borrowed for the vacation will be due for return on Wednesday 29th September 2010. Not all categories of borrower are entitled to vacation loans and certain categories of material are also excluded.
From Tuesday 15th June until Wednesday 22nd September users will also not be able to reserve books using Voyager the library catalogue.
Our new iFind Research service is now live.
iFind Research enables you to search across a wide range of information services (e.g. databases of journal articles, books etc).
You can access it at: http://ifind.swan.ac.uk/ or from the LIS home page (it’s the top item on the Digital Library menu option).
Following on from a long period of consultation with students and staff around the university we have designed a service which aims to meet your needs as follows:
1) A ‘find an item’ service which takes an author/title of something (e.g. journal article, conference paper, thesis etc.) and aims to find a copy that can be accessed (may be online, but could also be a print copy in the library). This service will save time and money by finding copies of items on reading lists, in bibliographies etc.
2) A ‘find something on a topic/subject’ service which aims to help you with an assignment e.g. essay, presentation or a research project. It can help locate relevant references on a particular topic/subject.
3) A favourites feature which can save details of items found in searches to refer to later or to export by e-mail, or to a reference manager like Endnote.

Download and print out the pdf application form.
Take the form to the Issue Desk in the library, or to the Miners’ Library for authorisation and you will be issued with a SCONUL Access card.
Take your SCONUL Access card and your Swansea library/ID card along with you. You will be issued with a library card, which will normally have the same expiry date as your SCONUL Access card. Your SCONUL Access card will be valid for up to three years, or until your course or contract ends, if earlier.
