This month we are highlighting an excellent database of company information – FAME (Financial Analysis Made Easy). Use FAME to find financial data on UK and Irish companies with a turnover of £1.5 million or more. This includes information about:-

  • Financials
  • Adverse filings
  • Directors and Managers
  • Financial strength metrics such as credit scores and CCJs
  • M&A deals and rumours
  • Industry descriptions, SIC codes and research
  • News
  • Accounts and Documents as filed at Companies House and Companies Registration Office in Ireland

Accessing FAME

You can access FAME in two ways:-

  • Go to iFind and search for Financial Analysis Made Easy
  • Follow links from the online Library Guides, where you’ll also find guides to using FAME

The popular business database FAME – which contains financial data for over 2 million British and Irish companies – is having a facelift in September but you can preview the new interface now. Just access the database as usual and then click on the link in the header:

Swansea University now has access to the FAME database (Financial Analysis Made Easy).

FAME gives access to financial & company information on 7 million UK & Irish companies. You can use it to research individual companies, search for companies with specific profiles and for analysis.

What information does FAME contain?

  • Company financials, in detailed format, with up to 10 years of history
  • Financial strength indicators
  • Directors and contacts
  • Original filings/images as filed at Companies House and the Companies Registration Office in Ireland
  • Stock data for listed companies
  • Detailed corporate structures and the corporate family
  • Shareholders and subsidiaries
  • Market research
  • Adverse filings
  • Business and company-related news
  • M&A deals and rumours

If you are on campus you can access FAME at: http://www.fame.bvdep.com/ip

Off-campus you can access the database at: http://fame.bvdep.com/athens (you will need your Personal Athens username and password).
